In late May of 2007, the Wall Street Journal published a story about how several cities were bucking the national housing trend. The industry was down overall, but several cities, including Charlotte, Houston and Salt Lake City, were up. Nightline had worked with DFPR and one its global clients in the past. A Nightline senior producer, knowing DFPR was headquartered in Charlotte, reached out to President Derek Farley to see if all the fuss warranted a story.

DFPR felt there was a story and that two of its clients could tell the story better than anyone. Three days later, Kate Snow and her team were in the Queen City. Of course, they had reached out to other Charlotte personalities, including former Bank of America chairman Hugh McColl. But, when the segment aired, it was DFPR clients Country Roads of the Carolinas and Carolina Investment Property who stole the show.
